Winter Storm Warning issued February 11 at 9:47PM CST until February 13 at 12:00AM CST by NWS Des Moines IA ...SNOWFALL EXPANDING OVERNIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH MUCH OF WEDNESDAY... .Snow is expected to continue over much of central and southern Iowa overnight, and expand northward as well. Snow intensity should peak between 6am and 9am, but also continue at lesser rates through the day. The highest snow accumulations will be over portions of central and southern Iowa with 5 to 8 inches expected. Snow covered and slick roads should be expected creating hazardous travel. Visibility will be reduced in falling and minor blowing snow tomorrow morning also creating minor to moderate impacts. The snow will taper off from west to east late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8 inches. * WHERE...Generally the southeast half of Iowa. * WHEN...Until midnight CST Wednesday Night. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Although snow amounts were still fairly light as of yet, many roads across central and southern Iowa were already slick with a light coating of snow. Use caution when driving tonight. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
